Beginning this Sunday, we'll take on an extended study of the Book of James called Pressure Points. In our history, Bridge Church has done whole book studies of Nehemiah, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Jonah, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, 1 John. James is a great book for people at all levels of Spiritual Maturity. Looking forward to digging in this Fall.

If you read the gospels, you will see that Jesus was always generous. And you can say, “GENEROUS TO A FAULT.”

Have you ever heard that statement? It’s actually an Idiom. Can you be generous to a fault? Christianity is the story of a man that tried and a story of a people that tried.

Jesus gave himself away for others and now is exalted over all things. That seems backwards. Lots of backwards upside down ideas come from the Gospel.

Listen to find out what is meant by that.

Every fifth Sunday Bridge Church, scatters instead of gathers, for what we call Faith in Action Sunday. Why Faith in Action Sunday? Faith in Action Sunday is a way to be intentional about disciple-making (Mark 3:14; James 1:21-23) and transforming the community (Matthew 5:13-16; John 1:14-16).

See more reasons why here. Watch this video about What and Why of Faith in Action Sunday.

- Key Passage: Ephesians 2:8-10
The role of works for those IN CHRIST.

Works CONFIRM our salvation, not secure it.
Works DISPLAY our new life IN CHRIST
Works are a RESPONSE, not an obligation.

In our Summer Message Series, called Fluent, we're examining common phrases found in Christian vocabulary and in the Bible to test our personal understanding of them and become more fluent in our use of them everyday.

Today, we discussed the language of Spiritual Growth: Bearing Fruit, Pressing On, and Training Ourselves.

take it with you

Iphone_trans Listening to podcasts on your mobile devices is extremely convenient -- and it's what makes the podcasting medium so powerful.

You can take your favorite shows and mixes with you anywhere, but to do so requires some quick and simple steps.

Let's walk you through that process together.
step 1:

Click the "Subscribe With iTunes" link in the page's sidebar:

Subscribe_with_itunes

This will require that you have the iTunes software on your computer.

(You can download iTunes here.)
step 2:
Itunes_ss

Now that you've subscribed to the podcast on iTunes, the feed will display in your "Podcasts" section on the left navigation bar.

Click there and you'll see the show displayed in the iTunes browser.

You can "get all" to download all available episodes or just individual episodes.
step 3:

Plug your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) into your computer with the Dock Connector cable, and click the device in iTunes's left navigation bar.

Itunes_ss2

Once you have your device highlighted, click "Podcasts" in the top navigation bar and sync the podcasts you want on your device. Click "apply" and the episodes you have downloaded on your iTunes software will sync with your device.
that's it!

The beauty of this process is that now, every new episode of your subscribed podcasts will automatically sync to your device every time you plug it in and open iTunes. You can now take your favorite shows with you everywhere you go.

Enjoy!
